Geospatial Information System and Technology for Good Governance in Thailand

要旨

This paper presents analyses on geospatial information system and technology for good governance in Thailand. First, key definitions of governance and good governance are defined, characteristics of good governance, together with a summary of the functions of good governance. It then briefly describes the technology and application areas of geospatial information system that can be applied to governance. In the later half of the paper, geospatial information system research and development are indicated by several examples in the selected areas, including spatial data infrastructure, Web GIS, real time GIS, and spatial data decision support system. Finally, the paper concludes with some suggestions for development of geospatial information system for good governance.
